Team Singapore went down 1-2 against Kuwait on the opening day at the Davis Cup Group III Asia/Oceania round robin stage at the OCBC Arena on Wednesday (Jun 26) despite a spirited performance.

While Jensen Hiu and Roy Hobbs managed to win the doubles match in straight sets (6-3, 6-2) against Abdulrahman Alawadhi and Essa Qabazard, it wasn't enough as Shaheed Alam (2-6, 7-6, 2-6) and Ng Hao Yuan Steve (5-7, 6-4, 2-6) lost to their opponents Abdullah Maqdes and Mohammad Ghareeb in their singles matches respectively.
