Historical evening flag off for Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon

This year's Standard Chartered Singapore Marathon (SCSM) was held at night for the first time in its history. The 2019 edition was flagged off earlier at about 6pm, with the event taking on a three-day format; Kids Dash happening on 29 Nov, and the 5K and 10K races taking place tomorrow on 1 Dec.

The new evening format is part of the organisers' bid to further the appeal of the race and improve SCSM's chances of being inducted into the Abbott World Marathon Majors, a series of the largest and most renowned marathons, in 2021.  

This year’s race will see participants running through a spectator-friendly route along some of Singapore's most iconic streets and architecture, such as Marina Bay Sands, Gardens by the Bay and The Singapore Flyer.
