Team Singapore’s Peter Gilchrist added another title to his belt after winning the Asian Grand Prix Tournament against Peter Hall with a score of 6 – 4. Held at Cuesports Singapore Academy from 2 to 6 June, it was the first time an English Billiards World Ranking competition was held in Asia.

Sparing no frames to anyone, Gilchrist swept every stage clean until the finals, where he was matched against Robert Hall. Ranking at world no. 3, Hall interrupted Gilchrist’s streak by taking the lead with three consecutive frames resulting in a score of 3 – 1. Having administered Gilchrist’s only defeat of 2018 back in April during the English Open, Hall had another chance of defeating the world number 1 player. However, Gilchrist kept his cool and eventually took the title and the $2,600 cash prize.

Not a stranger to competing in events on the World Billiards’ calendar, this home ground victory was certainly a welcomed change especially after clinching his last gold medal during the men’s billiards singles during the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur.
