The mixed martial arts (MMA) hype continues to thrive in Singapore, as the sport's top promotion Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returned to the city-state after three years to stage its second event.
All eyes were on one of the sport’s biggest name, Holly Holm, who headlined this edition’s fight cards.

In just over a minute into the third round, Holm, nicknamed “The Preacher’s Daughter”, delivered a spectacular head kick knockout to Brazilian Bethe Correia and followed up with a punch on the ground.
With the victory, the 35-year-old ends her winless streak after defeating Ronda Rousey in 2015 where she was crowned the women’s bantamweight champion.
Through the first two rounds, Holm and Correia were tentative, provoking ire from the 8,411-strong Singapore Indoor Stadium crowd. With her back against the wall, the American promptly shut Correia down with a left head kick to end a fight that was filled with much inaction.

“With this win, I feel great right now,” said Holm, who now stands with 11 wins and three losses.
“The first two rounds were slow, but I wanted to pick my shots and not make it too messy out there. I picked the shot I wanted and got the finish.”
Crediting her coaches for the win, the American added: “I really wanted this for my coaches mostly. Just imagine how many hours they’ve put into me in this last year and a half.
“I’m going to enjoy this win tonight and then spend some time with my family.”

The other fights of the main card, however, got the fans going with more action as Poland’s Marcin Tybura, USA’s Colby Covington and Brazil’s Rafael Dos Anjos all recorded wins by unanimous decision.
