Rio Daily: Timothee On Track With Bolt, Liang Xiaoyu Progresses

Team Singapore sprinter Timothee Yap was unable to make it to the semi-finals of the Men's 100m event but he did gain the experience of racing alongside his sport’s most successful athlete, Jamaica’s Usain Bolt.

In what he has said will be his final Olympics, Bolt is bidding to continue his streak of gold in the Men's 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay, the unprecedented “triple-triple".

The 21-year-old Yap, clocked 10.79s - just off his personal best of 10.62s.

Defending world and Olympic champion Bolt clocked 10.07s to progress to the semi-finals.

In Badminton, Team Singapore shuttler Liang Xiaoyu beat France’s Delphine Lansac 2-0 in the Women's group stage. Her next opponent is South Korea’s Sung Ji-hyun on Sunday.

In the Women’s Single Scull rowing event, Team Singapore’s Saiyidah Aisyah finished fifth in the D-final race with a time of 7:55.73. The result means she finished in 23rd position out of 32 competitors in the overall competition.
